How Do You Handle The Holidays In A Recession? Let's Talk About It!

Wednesday, December 15 @ 7pm on or 880 am (S. Florida) or just click here

Holidays are often the time that most folks feel the recession the most. But we are given mixed messages. On one hand, small businesses rely of holiday shopping, for as much as a third of their yearly revenue. On the other, the pressure to buy presents often puts families deeper in debt. So this holiday season, do we spend or not spend? Join Subhash Kateel and guest host Mara Leventhal in the last show of the year. Guests will include the Rev. Billy Talon, Bill Newton from the Florida Consumer Action Network, and others, including YOU!

TUNE IN! Wednesday, December 15 @ 7pm on or 880 am (S. Florida)

Aftermath: Wikileaks Definitely Ain’t War Criminals, but Dyncorp Is

Last night, we chopped it up on our show about Wikileaks and asked the question: are they war criminals or the CIA for poor folks?  Check out the show by downloading here or just press play below

Towards the end of the show, Mara and I summed it up.  Wikileaks documents basically show that our world is ran like a high school clique.  Except the victims of that high school clique are real people who fight or die in real wars, and who are forced to spend real money none of us have.  We already know this but virtually everything we are told about two wars that are costing us BILLIONS of dollars a month is at best misleading and at worst a lie.  Oh yeah, and private contractors that taxpayers give billions to for vital work in Afghanistan have employees that are hiring child sex slaves in Afghanistan…

One of the cables leaked by Wikileaks and covered in the Huffington Post here and here highlight how Dyncorp, a private military contractor similar to Blackwater, employed

“foreign police trainers … [that] hired ‘dancing boys’ to perform for them.”

If you have ever seen the movie The Kite Runner.  You may be familiar with a scene involving a “Dancing Boy.”  Just in case here is what the article and another article from the Houston Press clarify “Dancing Boys” to mean:

“eight- to 15-years-old. They put on make-up, tie bells to their feet and slip into scanty women's clothing, and then, to the whine of a harmonium and wailing vocals, they dance seductively to smoky roomfuls of leering older men…After the show is over, their services are auctioned off to the highest bidder, who will sometimes purchase a boy outright. And by services, we mean anal sex: The State Department has called bacha bazi a ‘widespread, culturally accepted form of male rape.’ (While it may be culturally accepted, it violates both Sharia law and Afghan civil code.)”

Now I am not going to assume that all Afghans think that purchasing “Dancing Boys” is ok.  But what is clear is that one of the “government secrets” that Wikileaks helped expose is that our taxpayer dollars, which fund 96% of Dyncorps $2 billion in revenue are being used to further a practice of child sex slavery in Afghanistan!

Oh yeah, and Wikileaks also leaked yet another cable that verified that the brother of Hamid Karzai, the US military’s number 1 guy in Afghanistan is a known Heroin dealer, and Nato’s go to guy in Khandahar.

As I said on the show, we all know the people that flip out when they hear of a woman on welfare, buying her kid a $50 pair of shoes.  Because she is “wasting our taxpayer dollars.”

But somehow the owner of a website that lets us know that our taxpayer dollars are going to support CHILD SEX SLAVERY and a major HEROIN TRAFFICKER, that guys a criminal???

I left the show speechless.  Not really, I'm never speechless. Just pissed.  Anyway check the show out, and check out some of the links from the last post like this one…See y’all next week.

Its official, this week more people have heard of Wikileaks than Wikipedia.  But what is Wikileaks and what's the big deal?  Did they really give up secrets that puts America at risk?  Or are they really just a poor-man's CIA, putting out information the mainstream media ignores?  Is the arrest of the Wikileaks founder a justified arrest of a criminal, or another attack on free information over the internet? Well, LET'S TALK ABOUT IT!
